Brain firing, body running hot, lying still in the dark. By 5am you've made a list of everything you forgot last week. By 7am you're up, tired in a way coffee doesn't touch, deciding which of today's meetings you can fake your way through.
Earlier nights. No wine. A cooler room. The sleep app. Most GPs will tell you it's stress, and offer something you don't want to take every night.
You are not imagining it. You are not doing something wrong. One specific thing is happening in your body, and the sleep part of it has an answer.

In perimenopause oestrogen doesn't decline in a neat line. It swings, week to week, sometimes day to day. Your sleep tracks those swings. That's why some weeks are fine and others are a write-off, and why nothing you change seems to stick.
It's not a sleep hygiene problem. It's a chemistry shift, and it doesn't reverse on its own.

Oestrogen helps run the two systems that put you to sleep and keep you there. Magnesium supports both. It doesn't replace the oestrogen. It steadies what sits underneath it.
The two systems involved
GABA signallingThe wind-down signal. Weaker, so your brain won't switch off.
GABA activityMagnesium binds the same receptors GABA uses to calm the nervous system.
Cortisol rhythmSupposed to fall at night. Stays up, so you wake wired at 3am.
Cortisol regulationIn an 8-week trial, cortisol fell and melatonin rose on 500mg a day.
Abbasi et al., 2012. Boyle et al., 2017, Nutrients.
A 2021 pooled analysis of three randomised controlled trials. 151 older adults with insomnia, daily magnesium or placebo. The magnesium group fell asleep about 17 minutes faster.
That sounds small until you're the one lying awake. Over a week, it's close to two hours of sleep you weren't getting.
A separate eight-week trial at 500mg a day moved four markers at once: faster sleep onset, lower insomnia scores, higher melatonin, lower cortisol.
Not a vitamin-aisle promise. Controlled trials, against placebo.

Quick answers
Three buyers, in their own words. Unedited.
"I've had major sleep difficulties since I started menopause over 15 years ago. I've tried everything on the market to help with sleep … couldn't get to sleep, stay asleep… working full time in a pressured job with 3-4 hours broken sleep a night. By the end of the week I was totally exhausted. I'm now post menopausal and still struggling to sleep. This product really helps. I'm amazed! Thank you so much!!!!"

"This is my evening routine. Magnesium helps me with my sleep from perimenopause symptoms. I noticed that my joints pain are nearly gone. The taste is so good and that's a plus."
Charisma H.Verified buyer · 14 July 2026
"I think the Magnesium has made a difference to my sleep. Elemental magnesium is definitely superior to other magnesium designed for sleep and other things. I have been a shocking sleeper for years and have tried lots of things but nothing works consistently. This product has definitely helped and I feel so much better for it."

The trials that moved sleep markers used 300 to 500mg of elemental magnesium a day. A lot of chemist magnesium is 150 to 250mg per tablet.
Form matters too. Magnesium oxide, the cheapest form, showed no difference from placebo in a randomised double-blind trial. Chelated forms (bound to an amino acid) and citrate both raised blood magnesium meaningfully.
A lower dose isn't a smaller effect. Often it's no effect at all.
Elemental magnesium per daily dose
Elemental magnesium, not compound weight. Trial doses from Mah & Pitre, 2021 and Abbasi et al., 2012. Oxide vs placebo: Walker et al., 2003.
One 4.7g scoop in water, an hour or so before bed.
The dose
Elemental magnesium, not the weight of the compound. No proprietary blend, no handful of capsules.
The three forms, and what each one is there for.
100mgelemental
Bound to two amino acids so it's absorbed rather than passed. The gentle one, and the form in the chelate family the 2025 trial used.
150mgelemental
Well absorbed. Raised blood magnesium meaningfully in the head-to-head trial that oxide failed.
150mgelemental
Magnesium paired with malic acid, which your cells use to make energy. For the daytime half of the problem.
Other ingredients: citric acid, natural flavours, monk fruit extract, stevia leaf extract, beta carotene and turmeric root powder for colour. Gluten-free.

Every batch of Biosphere Magnesium goes to an independent laboratory before it's sold. The lab checks what's in the tub against what's on the label, and screens for heavy metals and microbes.
The certificate isn't summarised into a badge. It's published, batch by batch, so you can read the actual numbers.
If a supplement won't show you its test results, ask yourself why.

Magnesium works on two of the sleep systems oestrogen disrupts: GABA signalling and cortisol rhythm. It doesn't fix hot flushes or reverse menopause. What it does is give you back the body chemistry that lets you wind down and stay asleep. For the sleep part, that's where the strongest evidence sits.
No. Magnesium isn't a sedative. It supports the systems that let your body wind down on its own, so there's no next-day hangover. Different from melatonin. Very different from prescription sleep aids.
Check the elemental magnesium per serve on that label, and the form. Most of the ones that didn't work are 150 to 250mg of oxide. The dose section above shows the difference.
Choose Blueberry-Pomegranate, Lemon-Lime or Mango-Pineapple. All three use natural flavours, with monk fruit and stevia for sweetness. There is no added sugar. Use more water if you prefer a lighter flavour.
Yes. Magnesium isn't habit-forming. Your body doesn't build tolerance the way it does with sleep medication, and any excess is excreted in urine. It's a mineral, not a drug, so there's no need to cycle off or take breaks. Most of our customers take it nightly for months or years. If you have kidney disease or take prescription medication, check with your GP before starting.
No. This isn't a weight-loss formula and we don't claim it helps with weight. It's a no-added-sugar magnesium drink for the sleep part of menopause.
Yes. We only use stevia leaf extract and monk fruit extract for sweetness, and there is no added sugar.
You've read the mechanism. You've seen the trials. You know what magnesium does and what it doesn't. The only thing left is 60 nights to find out.
